During the later part of the day I spent time exploring the city with my cousins Matt and Taylor. We went to the Atlanta aquarium (notice the penguin selfie) and it was awesome!
I took a lot of selfies this day!
Also, we visited Centennial Park. It celebrates the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Taylor's parents bought him a brick WAY back then and we found it in the park! We are going back tonight to ride the ferris wheel.

I just arrived at the ISTE conference. Here I will learn more about using technology in the classroom. I hope to meet interesting people and learn lots of new things! Today is a relaxing day before classes begin tomorrow.
Atlanta is a pretty cool city. The conference center is RIGHT next to where the Atlanta Falcons AND where the Atlanta Hawks play. Right next to us is also the World of Coca-Cola and the famous Atlanta Aquarium. I want to explore the city so badly. Maybe I'll run away and check it out!

Day Twenty-Two - Miss Lawrence Flies Across the Country!

I will be attending the International Society for Technology in Education Conference in Atlanta, Georgia this week. It was pretty lonely to travel alone! Two funny things that happened were a piano player in the airport, and a 17-year-old girl with this strange statue.
I am not sure why she brought it on a plane, but it had to sit on her lap the entire flight!
She told me all about how she made it: She held on to a football and wrapped the entire thing in plaster. Plaster is the material that you would make a hard cast out of if you broke your arm. Then after it hardened, she had to pop the football and wiggle her hand out. Then she attached another plaster version of her arm on the other side of the football. It was a pretty cool sculpture, but I just thought it was strange to ride next to on a flight!

If you remember, Miss Mecham has a second job working at Ruby River in downtown Salt Lake City. She works with a guy named Josh, who let me tag along with him and some other friends to the USA game watch party at Rio Tinto stadium!
It was SO fun to watch the game there. There were lots of fans that were able to come. The played the game on the big screen, and it was fun to hear everyone cheer for the Real Salt Lake players when their names were announced.
Josh and I were REALLY proud of our awesome outfits. We both think it's really fun to cheer on the USA during the World Cup and the Olympics. Remember when our class participated in the Olympics?

Even though the US lost the game, we still advance to the next round. I can't wait to see the next game next Tuesday!

Day Twenty - Animals, Animals, Animals!

The Hillsdale 6th grade teachers decided we wanted to hang out with the other teachers more, so we decided to set up "teacher outings" which will all attend as a faculty. The one we chose for June was Animals Inside Out at the Leonardo Museum in downtown Salt Lake City. You and your family should try to go because it was INCREDIBLE! They deconstructed bones and cardiovascular systems in animals so that you could see individual parts of them. The most fascinating thing to me was the camel. This is a picture of my sister and I with him. Mrs. Burgess was there with her son Kyler, and because the camel was cut into three parts, he said, "My favorite part was the three-headed camel!"
It was great to see teachers outside of school for a change.

After my sister and I visited the museum, it was time to go to the zoo! My mom's work has a company party every summer and winter. The summer ones are usually an outing like this one, going to the zoo or a Bees baseball game. The winter company parties are "adults only" which means my sister and I can't go.
I LOVE the zoo. I find watching animals fascinating. I haven't been there for a long time! I especially loved to watch the polar bear.
This picture of my family is kinda funny because whenever I stand by my mom I hunch over because she's so much shorter than I am. I am practically taller than my dad, but I am hunching over so far!

Day Nineteen - Hiking with Miss Mecham!

Miss Mecham and I went for a beautiful hike up Bell Canyon. It was absolutely breathtaking! As usual, we took hundreds of pictures. I love the one below that Miss Mecham took of me staring out onto the lake. There were TONS of ducklings all over the lake that looked as though they just recently hatched. We loved watching them quack behind their momma ducklings. We plan on taking Miss Mecham's dog on a hike as soon as Millcreek canyon opens up on July 1st.

Well my boyfriend Ian really did it.
HE GOT A JOB!
You may remember he graduated from law school this May, and has been looking for jobs ever since he graduated. He ended up getting a job....

...but it's in Montana.

He moves at the end of August. I am going to miss him SO much. It will be so strange to not have my best friend around after almost 6 years of being around each other almost every single day. We already have plans of visiting each other in the fall, but it's going to be different!

NOTE: This means I'm going to be lonely next school year so you graduates better visit me! :)

Day Seventeen - Zion and Bartholomeow

We continued celebrating Caitlin's bachelorette weekend in Zion. We LOVED hiking around. I highly recommend Zion National Park. It is SO beautiful and relaxing. Caitlin wore her BRIDE tank top and my friend Kelly and I wore black tank tops on the hike.
Last year, Kelly and I bought a hilarious sculpture of a cat that has solar powered light-up eyes. For some reason this cat made me CRACK UP. We just think it's awesome. Kelly and I wanted him to have a kitty name (like Katy Perry has her cat Kitty Purry) so we decided to name our strange cat:
BartholoMEOW PURRkins

Caitlin LOVES cats, so we decided to give it to her. Our idea was to give it to her with a book of pictures of the places Bartholomeow has been. He's really such a cutie! We love his bow tie.
We set him outside our little hotel room and he solar charged all day, and then we lit up his eyes for Caitlin that night! We all just love him. On the way home I put him right next to me and buckled him in. You have to worry about a fake cat's safety you know!

(If you already thought I was a little strange I hope it's more clear now)

Again we attended the conference in Layton. It was another long day but I learned so much! As we all know I tend to be a little braindead, and I ended up leaving my computer at the conference and had to drive all the way back! Oops.

Afterwards I went to a lacrosse game with my friend Silvia. Her boyfriend and his team play once a week. They are all members of Sigma Chi Fraturnity at the University of Utah. I used to play lacrosse in high school so it's fun for me to watch again!
